Newspapers Atlantic acts as an advocate in public policy to enable newspapers in Atlantic Canada to speak with a unified voice in promoting newspaper interests to governments, regulators and the general public. These interests include such issues as freedom of the press,telecommunications, taxation, employment standards, postal affairs,environmental matters such as recycling, freedom of information, privacy,copyright, access to the judicial system, electoral laws and defamation.

Newspapers Atlantic ensures that members are properly represented and positioned to access and understand the associations’ positions on any issues arising from government initiatives or legal cases.
